the forum inglewood information

The Kia Forum is an iconic entertainment venue located at 3900 W Manchester Blvd, Inglewood, CA 90305. Thanks to its long history and cutting-edge tech, it blends the historic and the modern to create a totally one-of-a-kind venue. It has one of the largest general admission floors in the country, while the “star-filled” LED ceiling adds a theatrical sparkle to all its events.

Designed to resemble a Roman coliseum, the original Forum opened its doors in 1967. Over the years, it has become a hugely popular venue, hosting many legendary performances and significant events. It was previously home to major sports teams, the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and NHL’s Los Angeles Kings.

Part of the Kia Forum’s success is its strategic location near major Los Angeles attractions. SoFi Stadium, Hollywood, and downtown LA are all within easy reach, while Orange County’s endless entertainment options are on the doorstep.

The Kia Forum is owned by Steve Ballmer. It can accommodate up to 17,500 guests at full capacity, within its bowl arrangement that allows for great views from every seat. For smaller events, it can be configured to half capacity — hosting 8,000 guests. If you wish to upgrade, box seats and VIP sections offer a premium experience.

Premium Senate Seats offer you a once in a life opportunity to own a prestigious Forum seat. With that seat comes food and drink service, VIP parking, and access to every single event. Chase Card Members can enjoy Preferred Seats and a swanky VIP experience in your very own lounge, complete with upscale food and beverages.

The Kia Forum history

The Kia Forum was built in 1967. Jack Kent Cooke, owner of the Lakers and founding owner of the Kings, oversaw the development, with the venue being designed to resemble Roman coliseums. It immediately attracted huge shows, hosting Lakers’ home games, NBA Finals, and concerts from legendary performers like Jimi Hendrix and David Bowie.

In 1979, Jerry Buss purchased the venue. It hosted numerous Lakers’ NBA championships and the 1984 Summer Olympics basketball, before being renamed the Great Western Forum in 1988 after selling the naming rights.

The venue was the home for the Lakers and Kings until their move to the Staples Center in 1999. Then, it was purchased by Faithful Central Bible Church in 2000 and used for church services and concerts. In 2003, the name was changed to “The Forum”.

Madison Square Garden Company acquired the venue for $50 million in 2012. It underwent massive renovations, bringing it up to cutting-edge standards. Then, it reopened in 2014 as “The Forum, presented by Chase,” hosting major events immediately. Steve Ballmer acquired the Forum for $400 million in 2020, renaming it the Kia Forum in 2022 after Kia Motors acquired the naming rights.
